OUR STORY

At Suited by Sankara, our journey began with a mission to bridge the gap between African Americans and Africans, dismantling decades of misinformation and fostering deeper connections. It all started with a transformative trip to Africa, a mentor and two friends immersed ourselves in the rich cultures and traditions of the continent. Inspired by the artistry and craftsmanship we encountered, we knew there was a story waiting to be told—one that could be woven into the fabric of something greater. During our travels, we forged meaningful partnerships with African designers, whose talents reflect the resilience and innovation of their communities.

The name “Suited by Sankara” pays homage to Thomas Sankara, a revolutionary leader who championed self-reliance and unity. Guided by his vision, we set out to create a brand that not only celebrates African excellence but also redefines how the world views African and African American collaboration.
